Attunement

I recently read a definition of the word attune: to bring into harmony. I think this is a beautiful way to describe what we aspire to do as doulas. It is not my job to direct a certain outcome to a birth, or to make parenting choices for my clients. But what I can do is connect with people on a personal level and bring a sense of calm to the situation, so that the family can find their harmony together.
