I attended the Evidence Based Birth® Workshop on Comfort Measures for Labor & Delivery Nurses because I want to provide the best care possible for those I care for. My favorite part was the hands-on exercises. It was a great experience to learn new things and reinforce what we know.

I’ll be honest, when my wife and now mother of our baby girl told me she was hiring a “doula,” I hadn’t the slightest idea what she was talking about.

My wife was referred to Julie by a friend, and I cannot express how fantastic the experience was and the relief she brought throughout the pregnancy.

Julie had several pre-baby sessions with us, providing valuable insight on the birthing process and what to expect. My wife and her also put a birth plan together and worked side by side during her labor to follow it as much as possible.

During my wife’s labor, Julie was very nurturing and continuously ensured my wife remained calm and relaxed as possible. The fact that made this experience for me was the reassurance Julie provided me immediately following the birth of or child, during some minor complications my wife had, that everything was going to be ok.

I would highly recommend hiring Julie as your Doula, especially for a first time parent, not knowing what to expect when the time comes.

We had a wonderful experience using Julie as our doula for the birth of our second child. She is so knowledgeable, calming and supportive. I was so happy she was by my side and was my advocate during the birthing process. She not only helped me when I was in labor, but answered many questions I had prior to and postpartum. I would definitely recommend her to anyone!

Julie was fantastic, she met us promptly at the hospital. She encouraged me to think of labor like an athletic event, which really helped me since I am a sports player. She empowered my husband to have an active role. He talks so highly of Julie, he couldn’t imagine birth without a doula! It was a VERY long labor, but Julie never showed that she was tired and was enthusiastically helpful. The best surprise was the support provided after birth. She made sure I was doing well. Cookies and a check in can go a long way!

My husband and I just took a customized childbirth class from Julie during our 3rd pregnancy to learn how to get through a birth naturally this time since I had epidural complications with my last birth. She was very knowledgeable, positive and a calming presence as she went through the information. I especially enjoyed learning the different birthing positions I can try (with massage from my husband) and the proper breathing techniques to help me get through the birth without an epidural. I also feel like my husband will know how to be even more supportive for me this time around.

I just finished the Evidence Based Birth® Childbirth Class! For those of you who are thinking about taking this class, I would say go for it. It helps build confidence for unsure support partners.

Even if you think you know what to expect during labor and birth, this class provides not only the birthing person, but the support person, with so many options and ideas to use when the day comes. The class has greatly increased my confidence in myself and partner!
